JADEDPUNK.COM PRESENTS: Math the Band, Stephen Brodsky, Chumped, Kerbivore
We got some of our bands/music-type people to play The Gutter in Brooklyn on December 6. First, our buddies from Shaolin, Kerbivore who kinda give off a Husker Du-but-sexier vibe are gonna kick things off. Then, it’s everyone’s least favorite mini-pop punkers, Chumped, who also played our Saves the Day show. Then, the handsomest man in all of Brooklyn, Stephen Brodsky, is gonna make everyone swoon with his awesome post-Cave In jams. And lastly, Math the Band is gonna make things SUPER FUCKING WEIRD and party on top of people’s faces.
And after all that, we’re all gonna do some bowling if you dare. Not to brag but we average out at about 86. We call dibs on POO and ASS on the scoreboard.

Photos: Plow United, Laura Stevenson, Mikey Erg, The Blank Postcards, Chris Gethard at Saint Vitus, Brooklyn

Here are a few photos from our show at Saint Vitus last weekend. All photos (except that awful Laura Stevenson instagram) taken by the lovely Rebecca R. Hire her for all your punk rock photography needs.

All of these dudes are total studs and for the record we would spend an afternoon having athletic sex with all of them. And Laura is an angelic creature despite the fact that she played a song with tons of f-bombs in it.

The only thing that’s missing is Mikey/Plow’s Fucifier set because it happened so quickly it could not be captured by standard photography. Luckily, we recorded this video and slowed it down by 1000 percent so that your human eyes can observe it.

HOLY SHIT ALERT: Mikey Erg To Play ‘Fucifier’ In Its Entirety With Plow United

image

In case you haven’t heard, we are putting on a show this Sunday at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn with Chris Gethard, The Blank Postcards, Plow United, and the ridiculously prolific Mikey Erg.

Last year, Mikey put out a flexi-disc called Fucifier made up of five insane thrash songs, clocking in at under 4 minutes. Really the only thing close to it in Mikey’s discography is the Ergs’ Thrash Compactor 7”.

Just how good is this record? Well, when it came out, the tastemakers tastehavers people at Punknews reviewed it and, in their infinite wisdom, gave it a whopping 2/5 stars. Let’s take a look at what they had to say about it…

There’s no real direct target that Erg is trying to attack and occasionally his frenzied shouts deteriorate into primal grunts and yells with no actual words being uttered. As for the music itself it’s five thirty-second fast, manic, thrashy bursts of hardcore with no breaks or signs of slowing down with the exception of a bridge in the last song. It’s the equivalent of a speeding car burning down a highway, slowing down for just a second before blasting through a guardrail.

Hold on. We thought this was supposed to be a bad review? Because the way they just described it sounds fucking awesome. Wait, it goes on…

I hope this helped dissolve Mikey’s anger because any further exploration in this field by him would just be a waste of the talent that we all know he has. You’re better than this, Mikey.

We respectfully disagree with you there, Punknews. Which is why we are fucking amped to announce that after Mikey’s solo set at our show, he is going to play Fucifier in its entirety with Plow United as the backing band. The songs have never been played live before. This should prove to be either amazing or a total disaster. Either way, it will be a great time.

And we haven’t even mentioned the other special guest joining Mikey on stage. You’ll probably just have to buy your damn tickets and get your ass there to find out.

Click Read More to listen to Fucifier in its entirety, which you can do twice during a commercial break.

How Hard Is Our Show Gonna Rock?

image

We’re putting on a show in Brooklyn this month and you might be asking: How hard is it gonna rock?

That’s a very good question and we’ll give you the answer. The answer is SO FUCKING HARD. That should have answered your question with 100% clarity. But in case you’re still sitting there with your thumb up your butt thinking, “Oh, they say it’s gonna rock so hard, but oh golly gee whiz, I just don’t know. What if it rocks TOO hard?” Listen. We’re not in the business of rocking in half measures. We’re in the ROCKING THE FUCK OUT business and let us tell you, business is fucking BOOMING, partners.

Meet The Jerks Playing Our Brooklyn Show

image

We are putting on a show on Sunday, June 30 at the motherfucker of all venues, Saint Vitus. (We once tricked the Descendents into playing there. Tickets available HERE. Here’s who we got on tap…

Someone just posted this video from our last Brooklyn show of Jenny Owen Youngs and “special” guest, Brian Fallon, covering “Ring Of Fire.” This is all to remind you that we have another show coming up in June and you should get your tickets. Do we have unannounced people lined up for this one too? Maybe we do and maybe WE DO. And we can all but guarantee it won’t be Brian. Last time, he drank all the Coca-Cola and we’re pretty sure we caught him stealing light bulbs from the bathroom.

JADEDPUNK.COM PRESENTS: Plow United, Mikey Erg, The Blank Postcards, & Chris Gethard in Brooklyn, June 30

Any questions about the show, direct them to Dan. Email here.
And the super fucking rad poster was made by Joe. Hit him up for your punk rock art needs. He’s a real sexy pro.

Our buddy, Rebecca R, took these awesome photos of our show at the Knitting Factory last week. These dudes know how to acoustically rock/tell jokes about weiners.

Oh look, someone was nice enough to take this video of our buds, Jenny Owen Youngs, Dave Hause, Brendan Kelly, and Brian Fallon playing Hot Water Music’s “Trusty Chords” at our show last night. They also used some app that makes it look like an old garage sale super 8 camera for some reason. “Trusty Chords”? More like “Rusty Chords” are we right??? No, but seriously, good job.

Our Show Was Not A Major Drunken Catastrophe!

Thanks to everyone who came to our show at the Knitting Factory last night. We packed the house until 1AM on a Monday night and that ain’t bad.

Brendan Kelly covered the Misfits. Dave Hause covered Joe Strummer. And Jenny Owen Youngs covered “Ring of Fire” with our surprise guest, Brian Fallon. It was just like watching Johnny and June but with more talk of dildos.

And thanks especially to Kyle Kinane, who not only had a room full of drunk punks at full attention, but also slayed everyone with his jokes about weiners and porn and stuff.

If you took any videos, send them our way!

Get To Know The Jerks Playing Our Brooklyn Show

Brendan Kelly (The Lawrence Arms)

Dave Hause (The Loved Ones/Paint It Black)

Jenny Owen Youngs

Kyle Kinane
